# 16 Koontz lineage and Biographical from Pennsylvania

Our first family KUNTZ that we know of is:

Philip Kuntz---in figuring his birthday from given information he was born 19 Mar 1743 in Germany.  He married Elizabeth SHIMP (Shchimpf) she was born around 1766 in East Calico, Lancsater,  He died 6 Mar 1819----I have visited both of their grave sites at Franklin Cemetery, Dillsburg, PA, the sad part is that the place I turned my film into lost the roll. I have one picture of that graveyard that a friend of mine took. I know of 8 children; Michael, Susanna, Phillip, Jacob, Elizabeth (Betsy), Mary, Rebecca and John

The Next generation:

Philip Koontz, Koons, Kuntz----he was born 6 May 1800 in Pennsylvania. He married Hannah SEIDLE. He died 21 May 1861 in Franklin Twp, York, Pennsylvania. He is buried next to his parents.  They had 4 children that I know of----Elizabeth (Lizzie), John Andrew, William Henry and Samuel Jacob --he is the one that wrote the Lincoln letter.

The following generation:

John Andrew Koontz---born 18 Sep 1832 in Chambersburg, Franklin, Pennsylvania. He married, 1) Mary STAMM they had 3 children; Samuel Elbert, Irma, and Cora. Wife 2)Emaline Kitchen. They had one child John Andrew Jr.

Next:

Samuel Elbert Koontz--- born 10 July, 1864 in Littleton, Arapaioe, Colorado. He married in 1884 at Aztec, San Juan, New Mexico to Marcella (Belle) BLANCETT. Samuel died 22 Mar 1947 in Madera, Madera, California. They had 4 children; Elbert Lyle, Edgar Blancett, Charles Moses, and Waltersall A. Koontz

Then my Grandfather and many of yours as well:)

Elbert Lyle Koontz-----born 29 Nov 1885 in San Juan County, New Mexico. He married Dorcas (Doris) Lourinda GOSS on 5 Jun 1907 in Silverton, San Juan, Colorado. He later married Hazel Perry. Elbert and Dorcas had 10 children; Gerald Lewis, Bonnie Lois, Baby (Leiala), Marjorie Lorraine, Herbert Lyle, Bryce Lenard, William Loyd, Paul Lorn, Raymond Leland and Charles LeRoy.

I do have information on many of the families that are not direct lineage if anyone is interested on any particular child.

FOLLOWING IS FROM A HISTORY BOOK FROM PENNSYLVANIA THAT GIVES INFO ON OUR EARLIEST GENERATION IN THE U.S. I HIGHLIGHTED OUR FIRST 3 GENERATIONS. THE PAGES ARE FADING. NEED NEW COPIES:) THE SECOND PAGE IS NOT OUR DIRECT LINEAGE BUT DOES HAVE SOME INTERESTING HISTORY THAT TIES IN WITH THE ORIGINAL FAMILY. IT APPEARS FROM SOME OLD DOCUMENTS I HAVE, THAT OUR ORIGINAL GRANDFATHER WAS AN INDENTURED SERVANT. WHICH WASN'T THAT UNCOMMON AT THE TIME.
